Full Cost Control at Orange: No More High Mobile Phone Bills

- A first in Austria: unique cost protection for Orange customers
- Security by warning text message, unlimited internet without additional cost, refill function
- Included in all Supernet and the new All in Tariff Plans

In terms of mobile phone tariff plans which are decreasing even faster this year than last year, Austria is one of the most inexpensive mobile phone countries in Europe. Nonetheless, four in ten Austrian have already exceeded their included free units. Headlines about so-called “horrendous bills“ won’t stop. However, Orange customers are on the safe side starting from 26 September 2011: Because Orange offers even more comprehensive cost protection which goes beyond what is demanded by many consumer interest representatives and politicians.
“With a comprehensive cost protection programme every Orange customer has full cost protection when it comes to making calls, writing texts and mobile surfing in Austria“, says Orange CEO Michael Krammer. “Consequently horrendous bills are history.“

Orange cost protection: unlimited internet, warning text message and refill function
The Orange cost protection programme includes three basic functions:
- Warning text message: Prior to all included national units (data, minutes, text messages and free airtime minutes) are used up, the customer gets a warning text message. The warning comes once 90% of the included data volume has been used up and when only 60 free airtime minutes and 20 free text messages remain. These text messages may also be sent to additional phone numbers of choice.

- Unlimited internet: Before additional cost is incurred once the included data volume included in the tariff plan/package, Orange reduces surfing speed to a maximum of 64kBit/s. If the customer has a tariff plan without data volume, he/she surfs free of charge and at reduced speed from the very start. Speed reduction only applies to national tariff plans/package.

- Refill function: With this function customers can purchase additional free units fast and easily to avoid higher cost. 1,000 additional airtime minutes and 1,000 additional text messages at 10 euro respectively and an additional GB full-speed data volume costs 5 euro. The additional quota applies to all of Austria and is valid for the current invoicing period.

Guardian angel package: cost protection for existing tariff plans
Customers with tariff plans starting from May 2011 (Supernet, Business Unlimited and All in Tariff Plans) as well as new customers have the new cost protection feature included automatically.

Orange customers with tariff plans which were launched prior to 15 May 2011 may activate the Orange guardian angel package for their existing tariff plan and thus upgrade their tariff plan to include this new cost protection feature. If activated before 31 December 2011, the guardian angel package is free for a period of three months. Customers who would like to keep this package, pay 1.50 euro per month afterwards.
The services included in the Orange customer protection apply exclusively to national tariff plans.

The guardian angel package for existing Orange customers (with post-paid tariff plans from mid-May 2011) may be activated via the Orange service team, in every Orange shop, or in the online service area at orange.at or via the Orange Service App for Android or iPhone (expected for mid-October 2011).
