Make-A-Wish Day brings Games & Fun for Families
- Big amusement park for children and families in Vienna
- Make-A-Wish Foundation and ONE support severely ill children
On 27 April 2003, ONE and the Make-A-Wish Foundation invite to the Make-A-Wish Day in the Europahaus in Vienna (14th district, Linzer Straße 429). This Sunday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. the park becomes an amusement park for families and children with entertainment, games and culinary specialities. The net proceeds will be used to make the innermost wishes of severely ill children come true. Last year thus € 3,900,- in donations were collected for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is biggest charity organisation making wishes come true worldwide and attends to the wishes of severely ill children. Since 1980 it has already made more than 95,000 wishes ranging from specialised bikes to meeting soccer teams or pop idols to special trips, for instance on an ocean liner, come true. Thus children forget their illness for a couple of hours and enjoy this particular experience. In the course of the sponsoring programme ONE CARES, ONE already supports the Make-A-Wish Day for the third time, last year impressive € 3.900,- in donations were collected. All revenues from this activity day go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Austria, which celebrates its 6th anniversary this year.
The Make-A-Wish Day has something for everyone
On Sunday 27 April, the park of the Vienna Europahaus (also famous for the Baroque castle Miller-Aichholz) becomes an amusement park for the Make-A-Wish Day. Visitors are offered many different kinds of entertainment. They may go horseback riding, play tin and horseshoe games, participate in a sack race or be entertained by magicians, clowns or the puppet figure Praterkasperl. In addition, there will be a colourful show on stage: Gernot Kranner offers excerpts from his new programme for children “The wolf and the seven dwarfs“, which will be shown in the Vienna Volksoper in May. Followed by a performance of his brother Reinwald Kranner, famous from musicals such as “West Side Story” and “Anatevka”. The group “TAP 3“ performs its tap-dance programme. The “Funtastic Youngsters“ show off Hip Hop and after the show will teach the offspring how it works.
Sascha’s wish comes true
This Sunday will be a very special day for the severely ill four-year old Sascha. He very much longs for a toy Porsche. As a surprise a real Porsche with driver waits for him on the Make-A-Wish Day and will take him out for a day trip. And Sascha will also be presented a song especially composed for him: “I have a small red Porsche“ – text & music by Gernot Kranner.
