ONE half-year results: 830,000 customers

- The number of customers has more than quadrupled in one year
- The million mark among mobile phone customers will be exceeded by the end of this year

The number of ONE customers reached 830,000 at the end of June 2000. The majority of new customers opted for a handset with a contract. By the end of this year the number of GSM-customers alone will increase to more than one million.
ONE, the most modern mobile telephony provider in Austria, has as many as 830,000 customers after the first two quarters of the year 2000, among them 730,000 mobile telephony customers.
60,000 Austrians currently take advantage of the ONE fixed-line solution f-ONE and 40,000 surf the Internet with i-ONE. 41,000 of handset customers opted for the convergence product Take Two.
For comparison: After the first quarter of the year 2000 a total of 690,000 customers made phone calls with ONE, 620,000 of them were mobile customers. A year ago the number of customers amounted to 200,000 and has thus quadrupled within one year.
“This year’s pleasing, strong growth can be attributed to reaching a coverage of 95% on the one hand, and the important milestones of ONE High Speed and myONE on the other hand“, emphasises ONE Managing Director Jørgen Bang-Jensen. “More than 60% of our new customers opt for a handset with a contract“, Bang-Jensen continues. The business customer segement develops particularly dynamically.

The number of customers will be doubled in the year 2000

“In the year 2000 we started out with 500,000 customers and will exceed the million mark by the end of this year among mobile phone customers alone“, notes Bang-Jensen. Thus the total number of customers will more than double in the course of this year.
Turnover will increase to ATS 7.1 billion by the end of the year (as compared to 2 billion in 1999). This year still the company will invest ATS 3 billion, thus increasing its total investment in Austria to ATS 18 billion.
