FUTURE ONE: Touch the future
- New ONE department as trend laboratory and think-tank
- The next projects: ONE Smart Space and the manager handbag
Future ONE, a new department of ONE Mobile Living, deals with ONE’s future business areas, especially topics like living, clothes and mobility. It focuses on the next three to five years. Separated from daily business, Future ONE develops solutions to be touched. Related business areas and future partnerships are of particular importance for the new ONE think-tank.
Austria’s third largest mobile telephony provider places a particular focus on customer requirements and their ever-changing life models and habits. This is why ONE created a new department at the end of last year that analyses future trends and developments. So far, Future ONE is a unique project in Austria’s world of communication. With a generalist approach, a core team of specialists investigates future topics with a three to five-year horizon. Mag. Florian Stieger (29), head of Future ONE, “Dealing with the future is not like a look into a crystal ball. It is important that ONE makes a purposeful investment into the future, separated from daily business.”
First projects and a new home
The first project of the new department was a cooperation with the University of Applied Arts under the motto “Always on”. In interdisciplinary working groups, nine selected young designers and artists developed scenarios for a completely networked world. At present, the second Future ONE showcase is being created: the “manager handbag of the future” for the always mobile manager or business woman. The new prototype will come into being in mid-January – at the same time as the new ONE Smart Space, Future ONE’s creative workshop, will be opened in downtown Vienna.
The business of the future
The new ONE department serves both as think-tank and as a platform for showcases and research. Future ONE handles future and related business areas of ONE , especially topics like living, clothes and mobility. The core tasks of this department are setting up new concepts and approaches, evaluating new technologies and developing solutions and possibilities that can be touched and tested – so-called tangible products.
