ONE ROAMING: Tips for saving as customer service
- 250 roaming partners in 111 countries
- The focus is on customer satisfaction
In the Christmas season mobile phones are always used very intensively. Voice calls and SMS do not only have peak season on 24 and 31 December in Austria, but are also highly popular on trips abroad. In order to make the lives of customers a little easier, ONE publishes a couple of roaming tips shortly prior to the travelling season. Be it travelling or at home, a few settings suffice to spend the holidays more inexpensively.
A short information before the journey saves both vacation allowance and nerves: www.one.at provides an overview of all 250 ONE roaming partners, tariffs and available services(GPRS etc).
To enable ONE GPRS customers to use their mobile phone or data card for mobile communication abroad, ONE has been the first Austrian operator to offer GPRS roaming for more than one year. In the meantime, GPRS roaming has been available in all major economic centres in Europe and Asia. Information on which roaming partners offer GPRS are available for customers online at www.one.at under "products“ and "roaming“.
Automatic or manual? In order to make calls abroad, ONE customers basically have two ways of dialling up the network of their choice: either automatically or manually. In case of an automatic choice of network the mobile phone automatically dials up the strongest network. While this is convenient on the one hand, it may be quite expensive on the other hand.
For this reason, it is definitely worthwhile to compare the roaming tariffs of potential network providers in the destination country in Austria still. Also visiting the websites of network operators provides customers with valuable service information.
Roaming fees also fall due when customers are called abroad(the share of fees for transferring the call abroad). Should you wish not to receive any calls you can set your mobile phone before departing so that all incoming calls are directly transferred to your ONE voicemail box. For this setting customer select the option "Transfer all calls" in their handset menu "Call transfer" and enter the following number "+43 699 3 and their 7-digit ONE phone number.“ As soon as the customer returns to Austria, these messages may retrieved from the ONE voicemail box free of charge.
In order to send SMS messages from your holiday resort to family and friends, customers enter the target phone number including the international country code.
Always manual: An important roaming tip for customers who do not travel, but live near the border. Austria is surrounded by eight neighbouring countries and if bordering network operators emit the stronger signal, Austrian customers with automatic network choice also make calls within Austria at much higher rates. For this reason, the ONE service team asks all customers living near the border to reset their handsets to manual choice of network:
1. Select the menu item "settings", "parameter", "networks" or "phone settings" in the handset menu, mark and select the item "network“.
(name of menu item depends on handset producer)
2. Under manual choice of network all available networks are listed. ONE recommends to all customers living near the border to select "ONE“ so that calls within Austria are actually made via ONE.
