In yesterday’s constructive round of negotiations with Federal Minister Gorbach and other network operators on the subject of number portability, an agreement was achieved on vital topics. In the course of negotiations, ONE succeeded in defending its stance with regard to a customer-friendly solution concerning various issues. An agreement on open minor issues is still pending.
An essential issue of the new law on telecommunications will be the enforcement of the so-called "one-stop-shopping" requested by ONE, which will in future enable the customer to switch directly via the new operator. All open liabilities from existing contracts must of course be completely fulfilled by the customer. Concerning the open issues in case of interference in existing contracts, the ministry has promised to come up with a solution. In line with the consumer-friendly solution intended by ONE, responsibility for transparent tariff structures will lie with the calling network (source network). This way ONE can provide its customers with optimum information. Nonetheless, ONE believes that an optimum transparent tariff structure is not necessarily linked to voice information. A peep forms the most customer-friendly version for the third largest mobile telephony operator in Austria.
Christian Czech, CCO of ONE, on the new law on telecommunications: “The objective of mobile number portability consists in facilitating switching the operator for the customer and stimulating competition by way of attractive offers. Agreement on the one-stop-shopping solution opted for by ONE forms an essential step.“
