To produce analyses and reports whose data are marked both by relevance and high quality is among the objectives of Sonja Dirr (31), Head of Customer Intelligence at ONE, the third largest communications company in Austria.

Sonja Dirr (31) has been in charge of the customer intelligence department since October 2002. The duties comprise the provision of comprehensive market research and data analysis results as well as the continuous improvement and development of information provision in the entire company.

Customer Intelligence for you

The customer intelligence team evaluates findings about customers and the mobile telephony market and conducts comprehensive market research and data analysis by means of studies, reports and analyses. On the one hand, the information serves assessing the potential of ideas for new products. On the other hand, it supports the analysis of after launch data in evaluating the success of the product and the planning of future product strategies. The recently integrated geo marketing team completes this job by analysing regional specific data.

In order to handle requests more efficiently, the department is divided into the three sections business intelligence, market intelligence and geo marketing. “The former is concerned with the analysis of internal data which are retrieved from the data warehouse. Whereas market intelligence introduces external market information, such as for instance studies to the company, geo marketing puts a regional perspective on these findings“, explains Sonja Dirr.

The development of the number of customers as well as sales form the basis for preparing monthly business intelligence reports. The main task of the market intelligence team, however, consists in classical market research for assessing the overall market, the own company and competitors.

Sonja Dirr: Many years of telecommunications experience

In the course of studying commerce, Sonja Dirr, who comes from Styria originally, spent one semester at the Ecole Superieure des Sciences Commerciales d’Angers in France. In the following years she gathered experience in the areas of marketing and distribution at Mobilkom Austria working as product manager residential customers and then being in charge of the business analysis team. After that she left for Nextra Telekom, where she worked as product manager for Internet access and application products in the products&marketing department.

Since February 2002 Sonja Dirr has been with ONE starting out as the Head of Planning & Pricing Private being in charge for the development and continuous improvement of pricing strategies, creation and structuring of the marketing planning process as well as the coordination of the private customer unit. She has been in charge of the customer intelligence department since October 2002.
