ONE expands its mobile dictionary

• WAP dictionary for faster access
• Langenscheidt language guide encompasses both phrases and phonetic transcription

With their handsets ONE customers always have five dictionaries – German, English, French, Spanish und Italian – handy. Following the SMS dictionary, effective immediately ONE also offers a WAP version. Just as new in the WAP menu is the Langenscheidt language guide with whose assistance the most important phrases no longer form a problem. Translating per SMS and via the WAP page www.one.at is very easy. Each WAP request costs € 0.20.

What has only been retrievable via SMS to date, is now also available WAP-based. This is about the mobile dictionary. Because ONE customers may also “look up” vocabulary on the road with their mobile phone in the languages German, English, French, Spanish and Italian and now also receive the translation they want via menu per WAP. Ideal for vacationers who do not even have a basic knowledge of the required language and therefore need more than just individual words, the Langenscheidt language guide forms the perfect solution. It provides the most important phrases with phonetic transcription grouped in various categories such as food/drink, emergencies, time etc. to their ONE mobile phone.

Translating made easy

If the user wants to use the WAP dictionary, he selects the WAP page www.one.at on his mobile phone. Under the menu item “look up“ simply select the dictionary and subsequently the required language. Then the user enters the word he is looking for in the text field. With “next“ the user gets to the translation, the vocabulary then instantly appears. In case the word searched for is not found, the customer may either choose to enter “new search” or “similar search” to get a selection of words related to the original vocabulary searched for. With “home“ he returns to the main menu again.

The language guide, which is available for the categories questions, food/drink, accommodation, restaurants, emergencies, shopping, sightseeing, “on the road”, communication and time, works according to similar terms. For this purpose the customer selects language guide and the required language under the menu item “look up”. Subsequently, the required topic is chosen among the categories. Or exit with “back”. The translation even appears with the corresponding phonetic transcription.

The costs

The new WAP services are available to all ONE post-paid and pre-paid customers. The customer only pays € 0.20 per WAP request as well as the costs for WAP use according to the respective tariff scheme and the respective roaming fees abroad.

ONE WAP portal has been newly structured

ONE has taken the launch of these new mobile services as an occasion to further simplify the existing WAP portal and structure it even more clearly and to thus facilitate faster access to all mobile services. These are the nine menu items as follows:
