Far-reaching Changes within ONE

ONE is preparing for even tougher competition
New company structure to be implemented

Reduction in number of employees
ONE will continue to act offensively in Austria’s highly competitive mobile telephony market and is getting prepared in time by changing its company structure. In the course of these changes the number of employees will be reduced by 225 full-time positions.

Austria’s third-largest mobile telephony operator is taking a future-oriented step and at the same time adapting to the present market situation. The goal is to continue to act as an offensive and profitable company in a market that is permanently becoming more competitive by means of an efficient cost structure. As a first step, the company outsourced the fields network rollout and network operations to the external partner Alcatel already in 2003.

Within the coming weeks, the number of employees will be reduced by 225 full-time positions; AMS (Arbeitsmarktservice, the Austrian labour exchange service) has already been notified. The employees concerned will be informed within the coming weeks. An extensive social scheme is presently being negotiated with the works council.

With two exceptions, the measures will affect all departments of the company. The number of employees will remain unchanged in the service departments ONE Call Centre and ONE Worlds – the direct sales outlets –, the capacity of which are already perfectly fit for the customer base. Thus ONE can guarantee that it will continue to offer its customers first-class service despite the reduced total number of employees. The reduction in the number of employees is part of the remodelling of the company’s organisational structure.

“It is important for ONE to prepare as early as possible for the next phase in market development. Thus, it is essential to adapt the company structure and at the same time reduce the number of employees. ONE will in the future continue to actively participate in the shaping of the Austrian mobile telephony market,” Jørgen Bang-Jensen, CEO of ONE, explains the measures presented today.
