Orange was the first Austrian operator to offer the iPhone 3G and set a new trend with brand net books. Now the company is once again exploring new innovative business segments with the new PlayStation®Portable.
Orange is the only Austrian mobile communications provider to offer the to date smallest and lightest (160 grams) PSP system together with a portable Huawei WLAN router for 0 euros. The wieldy Sony PlayStation®Portable go system has the best features of the PSP-3000-series and is available starting from about 250 euros.
Customers can already pre-order the brand new PSPgo in the Orange web shop (including a 40 euro web shop bonus now) at www.orange.at/webshop. Starting from 8 October the PSPgo will be available in all Orange shops.
The package is available together with the “Mobile Internet Package“ tariff scheme including 15 GB from 29 euros/month and enables customers to surf the Internet or download new games via WLAN router via PlayStation browser.
“With the WiFi modem and the mobile Internet provided by Orange, customers may connect several wireless devices simultaneously and surf the Internet at up to 7.2 MB per seconds“, says Orange CMO Peter Nebenführ.
Simultaneously surfing up to five devices owing to WLAN
The Huawei E5832 WiFi modem with LED Display has a rechargeable battery and consequently acts as an Internet hotspot, which Orange customers can take and use everywhere.
Via WLAN up to five devices with their own WLAN interface can be connected at the same time. In addition the router also acts as memory unit via Micro SD memory card slot.
“Via the mobile Internet customers may download games online directly from the PlayStation Store, connect with other players and surf the Internet via Wireless LAN with their new PlayStation, their Laptop or PC any time, any place“, says Nebenführ.
PlayStation 3 owners may take their personal music play lists on their PSP system via Remote Play anywhere. With PlayTV customers can also program tv recordings on the road and watch both currently aired and recorded tv programmes.
By means of the USB cable included in the package the modem may be directly connected to the computer/laptop.
The PSPgo key data at a glance:
- Operates via universal media disc (UMD™) with integrated 16 GB memory for games, videos, photos and music
- Including Media Go: a PC application for easily managing games, photos, music and video files
- Via Remote Play access to photo, music and video files which are saved on the PS3® hard disk
- With WiFi, Bluetooth and USB interface
Data transfer speed is reduced to a maximum of 128 kbit/s per invoicing period once 6 GB have been used. Once customers have reached their data limit of 15 GB, they continue to surf at a reduced speed (up to a maximum of 56 Kbit/s) without any additional cost.
